Author Spotlight: Wendy Rubin Morgan

One of my favorite parts of connecting with other authors is hearing the story behind the book. Every author has a unique journey, and Wendy Rubin Morgan’s is one of faith, obedience, and finding hope through heartbreak.

Tell us a little about yourself.

When asked to introduce herself, Wendy shared that readers will probably learn the most about her through her book. She is 56 years old, has been widowed for three and a half years, and is the mother of two young men. She describes herself as “a friend to many, a caregiver at heart,” someone who loves Jesus “like crazy,” enjoys worship music, loves good food, and proudly says she “used to make the best doughnuts around!”

What inspired you to become an author?

Wendy never imagined she would write a book. She says becoming an author was “obedience before understanding.”

After the sudden and unexpected passing of her husband, Brian, she found herself asking the Lord to continue using her. During that season of grief, she felt God calling her to write. Although she struggled to believe that was truly what He was asking, she says the message came in many different ways until she finally surrendered in obedience.

What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing?

For Wendy, the biggest challenge wasn’t writing the book. It was believing she was truly being called to write it.

She shared, “My biggest challenge was me & believing that the Lord was really asking me to write.” Once she finally told God “ok,” she says He placed confirmation after confirmation in front of her and made everything come together.

Was anything about publishing different than you expected?

One thing that surprised Wendy was the publishing process itself. She believes “the process of writing & publishing a book is so much easier than most would ever realize.”

Who is Change Of Plans written for?

Wendy wrote Change Of Plans for anyone walking through hurt or grief. More than anything, she hopes readers come away with hope.

She shared, “The message I pray that the reader gets is one of Hope. That life can go on even when, especially when you have your heart broken if you will just choose to Grow through instead of just go through!!”

Is there a chapter that holds special meaning to you?

Because the book tells her own testimony, Wendy says every chapter is meaningful. If she had to choose one, though, it would be “Bird Cage.”

She explains that this chapter “sums up a lot of my grief journey & brings in what my cover is portraying too!!”

What advice would you give aspiring authors?

Wendy’s advice is refreshingly simple.

“Just start writing. Don’t get overwhelmed in getting everything perfect at first that you just give up. As you just write you will be amazed at how it just all starts coming together.”

How has being an author changed you?

Writing her book has reinforced the importance of listening to God’s calling.

“My writing journey has definitely made me realize how important it is to be Obedient to what the Lord is asking of you.”

She also shared that she has been surprised by how many readers relate to her story and the experiences she writes about.

Where can readers connect with you?

You can find Wendy on social media under Wendy Rubin Morgan, where she shares about her life journey and her book.

Her book, Change Of Plans, is available on Amazon.

A big thank you to Wendy for sharing her story. Her willingness to be obedient, even in one of life’s most difficult seasons, has become a source of hope and encouragement for readers who are navigating their own unexpected changes.
