The Holy Work in the Ordinary Days

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” — Colossians 3:17

There’s something sacred about the ordinary.
It doesn’t always feel that way, though, does it?

Most days, our lives as moms are filled with tasks that seem small — the endless laundry, the sticky counters, the meals that vanish in minutes, the arguments we quietly settle, and the tears we wipe that no one else sees.

It can feel repetitive. Invisible. Unseen.

But I’ve learned that some of the most powerful work God calls us to happens in the quiet corners of our homes — not on a stage, not in a spotlight, but right there at the kitchen sink or beside a child’s bed at night.

Because here’s the truth: He sees it all.

He sees the mother who wakes up early to pray before her children stir.
He sees the one who wipes away her own tears so she can comfort someone else’s.
He sees the woman who keeps choosing patience, forgiveness, and grace — even when no one thanks her for it.

Every small act of love, every whispered prayer, every sacrifice you make in the hidden hours… it’s all seen by the One who called you to build your home.

Sometimes, the world will try to tell you that your worth is in what you accomplish — how much you earn, how clean your house is, how “together” your life looks. But God measures differently. He measures by faithfulness. By love. By the quiet “yes” you give Him in the middle of your ordinary day.

When we choose to serve with joy, to nurture with grace, and to speak life into our homes, we are doing holy work. We are building something eternal — not made of bricks and mortar, but of love, faith, and steadfastness.

So today, take heart in the simple things.
Smile at your child. Say a prayer over your home. Whisper gratitude for the chaos that means there is life and laughter under your roof.

You are not “just” a mom. You are a builder of faith. A keeper of peace. A vessel of God’s love, right in the heart of your home.

And someday, when you look back, you’ll see that all those little unseen moments weren’t small at all — they were the very foundation God was using to shape your family and strengthen your faith.

Lord, help me to see You in my ordinary days. Remind me that my work matters, even when it feels unseen. Let every act of love and service I give today bring You glory. Amen.

If this message touched your heart, share it with another mama who might need the reminder that her everyday moments are holy too. Together, we’re learning to build — not perfectly, but faithfully.
